What you can do
Create designs from a brief
Slides, posters, flyers, social graphics, and one-page layouts, built as editable pages in the Playyy editor rather than flat images.
Iterate in conversation
Refine the copy, swap a colour, or rework a single page of a design that's already in progress.
Use your own material
Share a public link to a logo, photo, brief, or spreadsheet and Playyy uses it as reference for the design.
Write documents
Create documents and add, update, or remove headings, paragraphs, lists, and other blocks.
Find and export work
Search your files by title and export designs to PNG, JPG, or PPTX, and sheets to XLSX.
Share with your team
Turn workspace link sharing on or off for a file, with view, comment, or edit access.
Requirements
- A Playyy account. The free plan works; creating or continuing a design uses Playyy credits from your plan.
- Cursor with MCP support.
Setup
- 1
Open Cursor Settings → Tools & MCP and choose New MCP Server, or edit
~/.cursor/mcp.jsondirectly. Use.cursor/mcp.jsonin a project to share the server with your team. - 2
Add Playyy as a remote server.
mcp.json{ "mcpServers": { "playyy": { "url": "https://mcp.playyy.ai/mcp" } } } - 3
Back in Tools & MCP, select Connect next to playyy. Sign in to Playyy in the browser, review the workspace on the consent screen, and select Allow.
- 4
Ask the agent in chat for what you need; it calls Playyy's tools when your request calls for them.
Permissions
Playyy uses OAuth 2.1, so Cursor never sees your Playyy password. Each connection is tied to the one workspace shown on the consent screen and can only do what your account can do there — a file you cannot open in Playyy is invisible to Cursor too. To use a different workspace, disconnect and connect again.
Every tool declares whether it only reads, writes, or can delete work, so Cursor can ask for your confirmation before a change. Deleting a file or document is permanent, and the server instructs Cursor to confirm before deleting a file it did not just create.
Tools
Design
create_designStarts Playyy's design agent on a written brief and returns the new file. Can also run inside an existing file.
WritesCan overwrite pagescontinue_designSends a follow-up instruction to a design already in progress, optionally focused on one page.
WritesCan overwrite pagesget_design_taskChecks a design task and, when it finishes, returns the editor link and a preview of the first page.
Read-onlyupload_attachmentFetches a file from a public URL so a design task can use it as reference material.
Writesexport_designExports design pages to PNG, JPG, or PPTX, or sheets to XLSX, and returns a download link.

Example prompts
Create a deck from a brief
Use Playyy to make a 10-slide seed pitch deck for Brightloop, a startup that rents refurbished e-bikes to delivery riders. Cover the problem, solution, market, business model, traction, team, and the ask. Keep it clean with a green accent colour.
Cursor calls create_design, follows the task with get_design_task, and replies with a preview of the first slide and a link that opens the deck in the Playyy editor.
Refine and export
Make the traction slide lead with the 40% month-over-month growth figure, then export the whole deck as PowerPoint.
Cursor calls continue_design on the same design, waits for it to finish, then calls export_design with PPTX and returns the download link.
Design with your own assets
Here's our logo: https://example.com/brand/logo.png. Create an A4 poster for our summer rooftop party on 12 July with the logo at the top, then share the file with everyone in my workspace as view only.
Cursor stages the logo with upload_attachment, passes it to create_design, and once the poster is ready calls set_file_share_settings with view access.
Work with existing documents
Find my Q3 marketing plan in Playyy and add a section called Next steps with three bullet points summarising what we agreed today.
Cursor searches with list_files, finds the page with list_file_pages, reads it with list_doc_blocks, and appends the heading and list with edit_doc_page.
Limits
- Design tasks (
create_designandcontinue_design) use Playyy credits, the same as designing in the editor. - Design tasks run in the background, and Cursor checks their progress until they finish. Each account can run a limited number at the same time.
- Attachments must be reachable at a public URL without sign-in, be at most 10 MiB, and be one of: AVIF, CSV, DOCX, GIF, JPEG, MD, MP3, MP4, PDF, PNG, PPTX, SVG, TXT, WebP, XLSX, or ZIP. Use an attachment within 24 hours of staging it, and attach up to 10 per request.
- Briefs and follow-up instructions are limited to 10,000 characters.
Disconnect
Turn playyy off or delete it in Cursor Settings → Tools & MCP, or remove its entry from mcp.json.
To cut access from the Playyy side, open Settings → Connected apps in Playyy and select Revoke access next to the app; this immediately invalidates every token it holds. Files Cursor already created stay in your Playyy account.
Troubleshooting
The sign-in or consent page says the request expired.
Start the connection again from Cursor. Consent requests are short-lived for security.
Cursor is using the wrong workspace.
Revoke access in Playyy under Settings → Connected apps, then connect again and pick the right workspace on the consent screen.
“The Playyy session has expired. Reconnect the Playyy connector.”
Disconnect Playyy in Cursor and connect it again.
“No Playyy credits are available to this member right now.”
Your workspace is out of credits, or your seat allowance or daily limit is used up. Wait for it to reset, ask a workspace admin to raise it, or add credits in Playyy's account settings.
“You already have the maximum number of concurrent agent tasks running.”
Wait for one of your running designs to finish, then try again.
“Rate limited by the platform API.”
Wait for the number of seconds in the message, then retry.
Cursor can't find a file you can see in Playyy.
The file list includes your own files and files shared with you directly, not files you can open only through a workspace-wide link. Ask the owner to share it with you directly.
An attachment fails to upload.
Check that the link opens without signing in, the file is under 10 MiB, and its type is in the list under Limits.
“Document is being edited concurrently.”
Someone else is editing the same document. Ask Cursor to retry the edit.
Privacy and data
Playyy receives only what Cursor sends in a tool call — for example a design brief, an attachment link, or document text — together with the identity of the account that authorized the connection. Playyy does not receive the rest of your conversation. Files, designs, and documents Cursor creates are stored in your Playyy workspace like anything you create in the editor, and you can delete them at any time.
How Playyy collects, uses, shares, and retains data, and how to exercise your privacy rights, is described in our Privacy Policy. See also our Terms of Use and Security pages.
