Discord Banner Size

Discord uses several different banners and they are easy to confuse. A user profile banner is 600 × 240 px (5:2) and requires Nitro. A server banner is 1920 × 1080 px and unlocks at Boost Level 2. A per-server profile banner is 680 × 240 px. An invite splash is 1920 × 1080 px and unlocks at Boost Level 1. This page covers the profile banner — the one most people mean by 'Discord banner'.

Design Tips

  • The avatar sits over the lower-left corner of the profile banner. Keep artwork and text clear of roughly the left 130 px of the bottom half.
  • The banner is displayed small — around 300 px wide in the profile popout. Fine detail and small type disappear; broad shapes and strong colour read.
  • Animated GIF banners require Nitro. Without it, an uploaded GIF is accepted but shows only its first frame, which often looks like a mistake rather than a still.
  • Discord's dark theme is the default for the overwhelming majority of users. Test the banner against a dark background before publishing — designs built on white tend to look like a bright rectangle punched into the UI.

How to Make a Discord Banner in Playyy

Three steps, no design software. Set the size once — from the size options or straight in your prompt — and every design comes out at 600 × 240 px.

  1. 1

    Open Playyy

Playyy runs in your browser, so there's nothing to download. Sign in and you'll land on the Home page.

  2. 2

Type your prompt and set the Discord Banner size

Describe what you want in the input box on the Home page, then set the size whichever way is quicker. Pick Discord Banner from the size options right underneath — every platform's sizes are in that list, so you don't have to look this one up. Or just say it in your prompt, like "Discord Banner at 600 × 240 px", and Playyy matches it. Either way the design comes out at 5:2.

  3. 3

Create your Discord Banner design and download it

Playyy generates the design at the full 600 × 240 px, so it's ready to upload as it is. Accepted formats: JPG, PNG, GIF (animated with Nitro). Keep the file under 10 MB.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the Discord banner size?+

A Discord profile banner is 600 × 240 pixels at a 5:2 aspect ratio, up to 10 MB. It requires a Nitro subscription. Server banners are a different size — 1920 × 1080 px — and require Boost Level 2.

What is the difference between a Discord profile banner and a server banner?+

A profile banner (600 × 240 px) appears on your user profile and needs Nitro. A server banner (1920 × 1080 px) appears at the top of the channel list and needs Boost Level 2. A server profile banner (680 × 240 px) is a per-server override of your personal banner.

What is the Discord banner size limit?+

10 MB per file. Accepted formats are JPG, PNG, and GIF, though animated GIFs only play for Nitro subscribers. There is no minimum enforced, but uploads below 600 × 240 px are upscaled and look soft.

What size is a Discord event or channel banner?+

Event covers are 800 × 320 px (5:2) and channel banners are 1920 × 1080 px. Both differ from the 600 × 240 px profile banner, so the same file cannot be reused across all three without cropping.

Do I need Nitro for a Discord banner?+

For a profile banner, yes — the 600 × 240 px user banner is a Nitro feature, as is the per-server 680 × 240 px variant. Server banners are different: they unlock through Server Boosting at Level 2, not through an individual subscription.
