Design Tips

  • Set up at 11 × 8.5 in (landscape) with a centrefold mark at 5.5 in. The left half (panels 4 and 1 on the outer side) folds to meet the right half (panels 2 and 3 on the inner side).
  • Bi-fold brochures are often used as menus — design the front cover (outer right panel) and back cover (outer left panel) first, then the two inside panels.
  • Add a 5 mm no-text zone on each side of the centrefold to prevent content from disappearing into the bind.
  • For premium restaurant menus, specify a double-fold (gate fold) option with a centre score: the two outer panels fold to meet at the centre without overlapping.
